Circus

The circus came to town
With lights and sound,
With sparks and boom and bang;
Laughter of joy flooded the town.

From the distance he saw the lights
Round and round the thing went;
Touching the sky and earth,
“I too want to touch the sky” he marvelled.

“Mother! Mother! Can I touch the sky?” he asked.
Blinded by treacherous rumours
His dream was snatched from his heart.
Gush of blood flooded his chest instead.

All for the skies, the child wept.
Broken dream left on the floor.
Days by and by the wound heal.
Days by and by he sees another light.

She entered the class with “hi” and “hello”,
With smile and giggle,
With sparks and boom and bang:
Circus flooded his heart.
