Moments to cherish

Though the small fingers are nimble now
In a few years they will ache
For they have turned too many pages
Or written too much
But still they will yearn for more
More pages to turn
More things to write
More moments to cherish
Though the eyes are fresh now
In a few years they will blur
For they have seen too many pictures
Or read too many words
But still they will yearn for more
More pictures to see
More words to read
More moments to cherish
Though the tongue is sensitive to taste now
In a few years the sense will wither
For it has burned too much
Or tasted too many flavours
But still it will yearn for more
More burns to frown over
More flavours to taste
More moments to cherish
Though the ears are sharp now
In a few years they will be deaf
For they have listened to too many songs
Or heard too many voices
But still they will yearn for more
More songs to listen to
More voices to hear
More moments to cherish

Though the body is agile now
In a few years it will hurt
For it has endured too much
Or fallen too many times
But still it will yearn for more
More situations to endure
More times to fall
More moments to cherish
Though everything else withers
The heart will stand strong
And in a few years become even bigger and better
For it has ever felt better
And it will yearn for more
More love to spread
More hearts to mend
More moments to cherish
