Oh Sweet Memories

I look up from my desk
And suddenly I wonder
When the last time was that I took a risk
The last time I looked out the window toward the stars
Or counted the passing cars
Or even admired myself in the mirror

Suddenly I look up and wonder
Wonder if my body remembers
The thrill of adventure
The rustle of leaves
Or the pleasure I got listening to the jingle of keys
Or how my hair stood up at the sight of bears

Wonder if my mind can remember
The pictures I drew when I was young
Or how hard it was to clamber
Through the busy train
Or how frizzy my hair was, like a lion’s mane
Wonder if I remember the last time by a bee I got stung

Oh how all these memories flood back in
As I look up from my desk
And suddenly wonder
When the last time was that I took a risk
