Life

By Saket Kashyap

A race is about to start.

I don’t know if

Its marathon or a sprint;

But the board at

The entry gate says life.

These runners don’t have to

Break only one ribbon,

But have to cross many.

Also, there are obstacles.

The obstacle after each ribbon

Gets tougher and increases.

There are four phases of this race;

The race starts from mother’s lap

-only for lucky ones-

And ends in a graveyard.

The race starts with nothing

And ends with nothing.

The race has just started

Not with a gunshot but with a cry.
