Yesterday
While going back home
I came across a house
I heard the birds chirping
And saw above
There
On the balcony of one flat
I saw a standing lady
A lady in a white saree
Her long curly hair
Touching the edges of the fence
Waving and floating
From cool zephyr
Her saree's end
Slightly flying back in the wind
And hiding her face a little
She held her pallu
And tightened it up
In her fingers
There I get to see her
Her with those gentle eyes
And beautiful features
Looking as if she is waiting
For something she loves
Her curious eyes
Tracing the roads
In the search
Of something or someone
And suddenly
Those gentle eyes
Spotted something behind me
And lighted up
Lighted up
As if she got
What she was waiting for
What she loves
What was missing prolonged
I traced her eyes in a wander
And turned around
And saw
A little kid
A kid with a pleasing smile
Careless looks and mind
Running towards the house
And giggling beautifully
And there I knew
What could make a lady
Look so tensed and devoted
Maybe motherhood
This thought
Put me in a trance
And when
I saw her again
I got to see
A charming smile
Holding her kid
Into her arms
And rocking him
And I smiled a little
And went back home
To where I belong
To my mother
Like that little kid
