Who knew oases existed in cities?
A tranquil normalcy in the midst of extremities;
Where sunshine manages to creep through the industrial clouds
Onto the grass which has not been trampled yet by the hustling crowds,
A breath of fresh air among the toxic fumes;
A refreshing pause before your city-life resumes.
Where raindrops are no longer an annual burden for the city roads;
But where they can finally reach their long-lost underground abodes.
As I looked at this oasis in the city’s heart,
Deep down, I knew it would soon fall apart.
Not long before monster trucks arrive, their tarmac to choke and smother;
Surrounded by the city’s concrete, this paradise will soon become another.
Like a black hole with murderous gravity,
The city will suck in every undisturbed cavity.
