Name Of The Artwork: Exploring self in grief Caption Of Artwork: The exploration of grief at different times in my life as an art student opened up space for this the work to emerge. The work uses strong vermillion shades from the feelings that I struggled to understand. The painting presents and puts body at the centre, a body that is isolated and grappling t find its touch and centre through no one else but itself. The body here is neither bare as it never felt covered or concealed to begin with nor it is anchored to any ground or against a background as new and old feelings emerge, engaging with more elements seems futile and self-deprecating. Name Of The Artwork: Crisis-Rohingya Refugees Caption Of Artwork: The crisis that the world faces where more and more marginalised communities are pushed to become refugees, some climate refugees, some war refugees and more. The painting shows Rohingya refugees waiting/struggling desperately with paper slips that will fetch them food. The suffering is to be felt from the imagery, the black smoke in the background depicts the bleak future of our generations as we turn against our fellow beings, discriminating on the basis of religion, class, nationality and so on. Name Of The Artwork: Remains -India Caption Of Artwork: The work explores the history of jute through Mixed materials. It tries to evoke a sense of loss of complete and remains of past memories and histories. The piece of jute sits in togetherness with golden textile threads, cement, remains of print from newspaper, and more. It brings attention to what it could have been if not burnt, buried, left unattended, forgotten, marginalised; drawing comparisons to the state of social fabric in the nation. Name Of The Artwork: जगह -New Narratives of that Missing Place/Space- Where is that Park? (I) Caption Of Artwork: The overarching idea of 'New narratives of the space and place' consists of a series of drawings of women in different moods and postures; whereas the representation of any physical space is missing. The titles ask a viewer/interpreter, questions about the absence of that public space. Women and girls exist but where is that inclusive space? A place that welcomes them without any form of discrimination. There is a dearth of social spaces for leisure and community gathering, allowing women (from diverse classes and castes) to be their comfortable selves. The reclamation of public spaces is a desperate act due to the inaccessibility (and/or absence) of these spaces. The idea is to present new narratives through the title and imagery. Women in the drawings suggest a leisurely feeling whereas some are sitting tightly in the frame, the titles in this series push a viewer to imagine these women in the suggested public spaces. for example a park, a metro, a bus, a shop, or just in an open space outside of a house. Name Of The Artwork: Still life in a candle light Caption Of Artwork: The work is a still life study in a candle light with the medium of soft pastels. As an artist light has always fascinated me therefore, playing and working with light to create dramatic and compelling visuals allows me to come back to basics every now and then.
