Can I?

By Dr. Yash Minaxi Joshi

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I hold your hand?

Can I just stare into your eyes

Till the sand-clock runs out of sand?

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I just cuddle with you all day?

Can I call you when I’m sleepy

Just to tell you what my heart wants to say?

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I take up all of your time?

Can I write all my future poems about you

Which may or may not rhyme?

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I call you my special someone?

Can I ask you to stay with me

When your brain tells you to run?

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I wait for you a while?

Can I just drive a long way

Just to see you smile?

Can I call you my girlfriend?

Can I call you my future wife?

Can I dare to ask that

Because with you, I want to spend my entire life!
