Destiny

By Danish Khan

A Journey from Darkness to the Light.

Prologue

This is a story of a journey.

A Journey from Darkness to the Light.

A journey of a guy who thinks a lot about his place in the world and where he is heading to.

The meaning of existence and most of all The Destiny.

Is it just a bunch of decisions you make as you move ahead or you’re just moving ahead on the road made just for you?

So here it goes, he is in his room which is gloomy and there is not so much in the room either.

There is a bed, a table and a chair. The room doesn't even have a door. Just a Window covered with drapes which were never opened before.

The room never experienced the light outside and neither did he.

...

...

But the most important thing in the room is that Book on the table.

The Book is special because it contains the pages of his Life. One page for every day and a new one is added at every dawn.

Literally a Book of Destiny.

His Destiny.

How can anyone resist writing in it, right?

So he sits down on the chair and tries to write every new page.

He never succeeded in writing his New Page and Regrets of his failures are piling up in his heart. Making him weak and burdened. Regrets are spreading as his life is not going the way he wanted.

But there are also moments of hope that keep him going and because of what...

...he never stops trying.

  1. A NEW PAGE

For a long time I have been trying

To write a new page in the Book of mine,

The line of picture perfect fate That I always keep in my mind,

But why is the Pen always out of ink When I'm about to draw the line,

Dropped the pen and closed the book Just like the last time,

Gazing into the cover I can see my reflection And It’s looking back into my eyes,

These may be my grimes inside

That's keeping me from writing any further, It feels like something has taken over,

These must be those regrets That I still keep in my heart,

It's really difficult to shake them off When they become your part,

But there is also a sparkle in that reflection The hope to hold again the pen

To rewrite all the imperfections,

The thought of which was enough to whiten that grey, I'm sure as seven heavens I'll try another day.

Background for Chapter 2

Starting off another day with the same routine He picks up the pen

But this time something different happened.

He wrote and he wrote his heart out which is now filled up with exhilaration.

Soon to be disturbed

By frustration of not being in control A Desperation

A Realisation and A Question

For someone who might be in control.

  1. ANOTHER DAY

Another day, Another try,

I hope my ink hasn't gone dry,

Have so much on my mind, Yet, I'm staring at the cover Like last time,

Turned the page I saw a little dot, Told myself let's continue from that spot,

Started off slowly, It took the pace, Had to keep that in mind it wasn't a race,

Kept drawing the line and noticed it wasn't all straight, It had its ups and downs just like a wave,

"Is it me or someone else responsible for fate?" Something inside of me said,

"Am I just moving over what's already been made?" "Then what part am I supposed to play on this page?" "Am I just a puppet on someone else's stage?"

...

...

"Am I the hero?"

"Because I don't think I have the cape!"

"Are you even listening?"

"I don't think we're on the same page"

"Is any of this permanent?"

"Or just clocking out the time with these nice drapes!"

"And why is everyone drinking the wine?" "But I don't even have the grapes!"

I know there's an author of this Story Because it feels impossible to escape,

"And if you're listening to this crave of change Tell me Oh Author...

When is my Destiny going to take the Shape?"

Background for Chapter 3

With all these questions running through the mind, It gets heavy.

So he put himself to rest for a while.

After waking up with a sudden hypnic jerk He felt like he slept with open eyes

He saw a bright vision during his sleep That has put a heavy toll on him

But he couldn't remember exactly what it was So he tries to find the answers

By first getting out of that room and Looking at the outside world

By removing those drapes from the window That's when he sees the mountain

Which has some stark characteristics That attracts him and makes him think

That he can regain his vision by visiting the peak of the mountain.

  1. THE PEAK

Burdened by a Vision that I cannot even recollect,

I woke up next to the Book that still have some pages left,

Left with some faded memories And a conversation with the light Felt like I had slept with open eyes

Could not tell the difference

If that was a dream or something real

But one thing I knew was

I need the answers to break the seal,

The seal that's keeping me

From turning that Vision into the blessing I seek,

And I knew it's not something

That can be found inside these walls of grief

My head kept on ringing

That I needed to let go of what I've been holding,

So I resolved to exhume myself out this Room, That really has started to confine me here like a tomb,

Found a Window behind those Drapes in that gloom, A Mountain can be seen

Where the "Flowers of Light" bloom.

...

...

A Mount that is covered with the woods except the Peak, It is the place where I think I am supposed to reach,

From afar it throws off an illusion, That the eyes can only relish

But the words find it hard to conceive,

The Peak that looks as high as the sky, as nigh as our pride,

as far as the sight goes,

as bright as the moon glows, as Dry as the Dune,

as warm as the June, as deep as the eyes,

The Place of The Wise.

Background for Chapter 4

After admiring the mountain through the window for a while He jumps out

Frightened at first about leaving his life behind But gradually gaining the confidence

That destiny always has something more to show And he just wanted the glimpse of that

When he landed

He saw the world outside of four walls And that was vast and beautiful

He glanced around and ran until he reached the base Where he could already feel the warmth...

...of the light he was about to meet.

  1. THE JOURNEY ABOVE

Standing in front of the window I find it hard to jump out,

It's hard to leave everything behind Even when I know it's not what I had sought,

But in front of me I see my destiny That goes far beyond this pane,

So I mustered some courage and jumped out Towards a destination that’s been calling my name,

Felt relieved and resurrected as I touched the ground It made me skip a beat as I looked around,

Looked around the vastness of the gardens under which rivers flow Eyes were wide open and just stood there in awe,

Shook my head and started heading towards a mount that I have my eyes set upon,

My heart starts racing as I am being drawn to a place where no one has ever gone,

The moment as I reached the Base I saw a glare,

A Presence was there

Like Drops of Light were dormant in the air,

The only thing that remains is to climb up to the point where flowers start to glow,

I have come down this far

It's time to start the journey above.

Background for Chapter 5

The journey to the above wasn’t easy

But he eventually reached the place where there are no more trees and just the Valley.

It’s like there is a boundary cutting off the rest of the mountain from the Peak where trees just stop growing and flowers start to glow.

  1. MY LIGHT

The woods ended

and I entered The Valley of Radiance,

A carpet of petals is spread For those seeking guidance,

Where the fragrance of a flower is light and Stones gleam,

Where the land reflects the heavens and Destinies come into being,

Kept on walking over the petals Till I reached the heart of that place,

There stood a towering flower

Like a Graceful behemoth immense in shape,

Lowering its petals

Just over to the grass blades,

The moment when I touched it To feel it's delicacy,

It bloomed with light

And so did all others in the vicinity,

...

...

As I wondered "what could be the source of all this?" A light shone upon the peak,

Illuminating everything Wherever the eyes could see,

As far back as that room To the place I desire to reach,

I turned my head towards the sky And saw something I couldn't believe,

Like a thousand sun Merged into one,

Not like the red when it rises The blinding white left me stunned,

Couldn't be seen from these mortal eyes,

It all went black and... Like a log I fell petrified,

The last thing I felt was something...

Coming out from inside,

It was the night when my eyes met my light.

Background for Chapter 6

The Soul became separated from the body,

It's like the mortal self can not go up there where the author resides.

So the body continues to wonder what just happened, but found the relief in those words that rang into his head. The body remains on the ground while the soul goes up

To find the Destiny that his mortal self had started searching for.

  1. THE SOUL

Now that the bright light is not around And I'm laying on the ground,

I have my eyes stuck to the sky And I thought "Did I just die?"

Because I can not move my body And something just came from inside,

A voice rang through my head

" The Soul inside you has just departed...

...And It's now on a journey that you had started",

That's when I realised

I'd been sleeping all the time,

And it is now that my eyes are really opened wide When I finally saw that light,

Like the serenity of the full moon in a quiet night It all started when i saw myself with my own eyes,

The light extended its hand to me That's all I could see,

Everything in my mind is all blur Gradually it all came to me when i tried to remember,

It began with rushing towards the sky Kept moving up till the air became ice,

...

...

Didn't stop there

Went straight up and it saw the light,

"So That's how the midnight sun looks like," It mesmerised,

It's happening while I laid there on the peak And all I heard was me... breathe.

Background for Chapter 7

The Soul is still up in the sky

And behind it, there appeared a Glass out of thin air And there was some reflection.

It recognised that these reflections are the same That are inside of his eyes

And also the hint of hope So It followed that hope inside

And went into that glass And when it came out There was a room all white And a voice it heard

Allowing him to ask whatever it wishes And all doubts and questions were answered.

  1. THE ROOM

While Earth holds my body And Sky, The Essence,

Never knew

That one would become two In this Quest of my Existence,

My Soul is still up there in the sky One Eye on the midnight sun Another one is looking for a sign,

A sign that would let me know About the next place I would go,

And all of a sudden

I noticed something peculiar,

All the drops of light in the sky crystallized To Form a Mirror out of those Ice,

It had a reflection of my regrets and grimes And the darkness that still resides inside,

But It also had that same sparkle The Drop of hope that I always needed

My midnight sun that never faded,

...

...

A voice echoed out to me "Follow me inside...

...Into this mirror that reflects life",

So I followed and went through Found myself inside a room,

The room was bright white Like every wall was dripping light,

A Book was lying there on a table Along with a Pen,

For me to write down my doubts To be answered then,

And so it happened

I wrote and It was answered, It was like a conversation

The answers to all my desperations,

I rejoiced at the moment

When this Journey was coming to an end, I returned with those words

And my Soul can finally descend,

Descend into the body to become one again And the moment when this happened,

The Dream Ends.

Background for Chapter 8

He finally wakes up from his sleep. So, It really was a dream after all.

So surreal that I could remember every moment of it.

Sun shone through the window on something on the table.

It was a book with a note of congratulation. "You're an Author now," It read.

A story about a person who talked to the author of his life.

He flips the page and it goes...

  1. DESTINY

Let me tell you about a conversation Me and the author had last night.

We talked about life.

I started with a question, "Why are we alive?"

"Not just to survive," He replied.

"But that's what we all do, Isn't that right?"

"Yes, that is the foundation you all stand on." "The Canvas on which your life is drawn."

"But who is holding the paintbrush?

That's what I want to know."

"The book is my creation, what's inside of it is yours."

"Then why am I not what I thought I would be?"

"If I let you obtain everything you desire" "You'll become just another victim of Greed”

“Throwing you off the course and decreeing something new is upon me."

"If you are also writing in the book, Then what part is mine to play?"

...

...

"It is me who opens the door of every other Way,

It's up to you whether you choose to go ahead or to stay, Life becomes what decisions you take"

"So, Is my compass pointing in the right direction?" "You move ahead with whatever you embrace,

I will be holding you with all my affection."

"But there is something I really want to achieve." "And even if you don't, Don't grieve,

For the grace in loss is more than what you perceive, It may seem hard at first,

But With the Hardship comes ease"

"So what exactly is the Destiny that you endorse?"

"Not a destination it is but a course Through which the Life flows"

"And how would I know what I did was good?" "You came to this world,

You gave meaning to your life and to those around you

You did all that you could"

"And about that wine that is verily due, A drink to honour your Journey,

In your Kingdom Come above the Skies of Blue."
