Fading Embrace

By Anna Jijo

She offered him a chocolate, he accepted;

His eyes locking onto hers,

He gently brushed his fingers over her arm,

To her wrists, and wrapped her hands in his.

She froze; except for her heart,

Which began beating erratically.

The way their hands intertwined,

Like pieces of a long-lost puzzle

Made her draw a sharp breath.

She glanced up at him

Only to find his gaze already holding hers;

She felt herself drowning in those depths.

"You know I want you, it's not a secret I try to hide"

James Arthur's vocals whispered in the background.

Perfect! she thought

And blinked, opening her eyes,

Only to meet the piercing morning rays.

“Not again!” she sighed.

It had all felt so real-

The caress,

The grasp,

The gaze,

Every moment.

She believed, maybe someday,

She would break the spell and claim him

From the realm of dreams.
