Feminism, according to Wikipedia, is a range of socio-political movements and ideologies that aim to define and establish the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes.
Though, if we take, what is currently going on in this world, into account, that might not be the case.
The early feminist movement, lead by pioneers such as Elizabeth Cady Staton and Susan B. Anthony, focused on securing fundamental rights for women, such as suffrage, education and equal employment opportunities. These women, and women like them, fought for the women of the next generation to be able to be as independent, respected and trusted, as their male counterparts.
In contrast, modern feminism has become increasingly obsessed with identity politics, intersectionality etc. This major shift has led to the marginalization of women who do not conform to the present version of this movement’s rigid ideology. It stifles the voices who do try to speak against them, be it on big issues or ones that are considered small. Women who voice their opinions siding with conservatives, liberals, and others of the right wing, are often ostracized or silenced under the big ugly label of bad feminists, which in turn makes the labellers bad feminists as well, seeing as the original feminism was a movement which sought to let everyone have a voice, an opinion , which could be heard even in the midst of thousands or millions of opposing ones. But of course that part is left untouched because only those who fit into the mould of modern feminism are the ones who are right and can do no wrong.
Furthermore, modern feminism has created an environment where there is a competition for who is the bigger victim, who has more trauma and other nonsensical nonsense, which doesn’t need to exist. This very competition has enabled people with a weaker mental state to seek attention in order to fill the voids in themselves. The attention validates them and gives them the dose of dopamine which in turn, encourages them to make bigger victims off of themselves for the attention. Now, it’s not to be confused as the same as people who do have actual trauma, who tell their stories as it is in order to help others. However, feminism today has given the spotlight to so many attention seekers and it has become hard for the real victims to tell their stories without people doubting them.
In addition to all of this, the present day feminist movement’s overly active participation in issues like gender ideology, the lgbtqia+ issues etc. have led to the erasure of biological sex, denial of material reality, and put the very people in danger for whom this movement was first started, i.e, women. Today, especially in the West, trans women have started entering women’s sports under the guise of them being women. However, their affirmations, pills, surgeries, etc. don’t remove their height, wingspan, lung capacity and other biological aspects which will remain regardless of the level of testosterone available in their body. There is, was and always will be a huge biological difference between men and women, regardless of how much they change themselves, which is something a huge chunk of the modern day feminists refuse to acknowledge.
In conclusion, feminism today has undergone a profound transformation which isn’t necessarily for the best.
