To,
All those who are still waiting for their Hogwarts Letter
Dear,
Life has always been a wonder to all those who have paused to take a look at it. From the mysteries of nature, to the larger existential questions; for the longest of time, young and old souls alike have found comfort in fairytales and in the thought of a magical world existing and thriving all hidden from us muggles (the non-magic folks).
While we all like counting and keeping a track of things, from finances to dates and calendars, we also find it interesting to dwell on the thoughts of unexplained magical events. As the world approaches the end of every year, the wind becomes a little more breezy, blankets become a little more cozy and snuggles become our go to evening routines. Every year we reflect back on the events of the year and try to make sense of all of it. Sometimes, we are proud of ourselves, sometimes sad, but most of all, we are content that we survived, we lived through it.
“At the end, it all makes sense”, isn’t this magic?
Human beings are capable of putting a spin on any situation, good, bad, ugly, no matter what we are presented with, we all see and perceive it in our own way. 8 billion of us with 8 billion perspectives and yet co-existing in a world that’s divided by borders but united by hearts. The beauty of existence is existence in itself. In a world full of variables, every day we survive and thrive on predictability.
We predict to follow a routine; we predict our future and secure it with financial planning; we predict to live several more years, when statistically, we are not even sure of the very next second. Some might say it’s more logic than chance, it’s more science than magic. I agree! We have for sure gathered a plethora of knowledge and gained insights into the ways of the Universe, but do you know what still is referred to as “not an exact science”?
Psychology, the study of human minds! Till the time there’s a wiggle room in our understanding of the human mind, which is at the core of our understanding of the entire Universe, I would like to believe that Magic is very much real and it exists right here amongst us, inside us.
So, to all those who are still waiting for their Hogwarts Letter, go back and take a look at your birth certificates, you are already here…
Cheers to a magical life!
Best
Shivangi (:
