‘HUMANITY’!!
“From the ocean of thoughts first wave that reaches coast of mind is -
What is humanity?, it’s Meaning right!”
While you read a word or sentence you always try to understand the
meaning behind it, and nowadays Google has solutions to all our problems,
isn’t it ! Entering ‘Humanity ' in search column it will display you the
meaning ,we read, we try to understand but my question to all is,
Do we really follow what we need to follow?
Humanity means caring for and helping others whenever and wherever
possible. Humanity means helping others at times when they need that help
the most, humanity means forgetting our selfish interests at times when
others need our help. Humanity means extending unconditional love to each
and every living being on Earth.
According to Leo Tolstoy “THE SOLE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO SERVE
HUMANITY!”
Talking about the philosophy behind humanity , then it is a virtue linked
with basic ethics of altruism derived from the human condition. It also
symbolises human love and compassion towards each other.
As soon as we understand the importance of humanity in day to day life, the
purpose for which we are on Earth is ultimately fulfilled.
But today looking at the world's scenario can we say that humanity is lost or
vanished ?
2
Is humanity linked to a particular religion ?
Is humanity a religion in itself ?
Now let's have a close look at how humanity has been deteriorated over the
years .
Citing certain examples for it
● Religious extremism -
Following one's own religion is a basic fundamental right of every citizen.
However, such a right is abused when people try to impose one's own
religion over others , as a matter of fact we all know that each and every
religion in the world has one basic teaching and that is peace, love and being
human not only to humans but also to animals.
Now speaking about religion; first ask yourself what exactly is the religion ?
According to google it’s the belief in and worship of a superhuman
controlling power, especially a personal God or God’s.
Mentality that exists in today’s world believes that Religion is nothing but
our Dharma – and it’s a lifelong task. That’s it?
Religion is a broad entity that should add higher purpose to one’s life and
keep you grounded. It’s not just a set of rules and teachings that you must
devote your life to. It's what you take from any religion that’s important.
Every religion, teach us what is Humanity, but we ignore the basic concepts
that religion teach us. This is the reason why in the name of religion there
are sometimes various wrong perceptions prevalent among several
communities and religious groups.
● RacialDiscrimination-
Discriminating people on the basis of their facial color is one of the pathetic
acts we ever came across in history. All thanks to the era of colonialism that
has made Racial Discrimination a normalized act of living, classic example of
Racial Discrimination is Policy of Apartheid that was imposed in South Africa
3
for many years. Wherein, white and non-white people were not allowed to
marry each other. This legislation served to institutionalize racial
discrimination and the dominance by white people over people of other
races. While the bulk of this legislation was enacted after the election of the
National Party government in 1948, it was preceded by discriminatory
legislation enacted under earlier British and Afrikaner governments.
Apartheid is distinguished from segregation in other countries by the
systematic way in which it was formalized in law.
Colonialism, Imperialism and Holocaust, world wars are some other
examples were humanity was destroyed by these grave acts.
But now the question arises was there no humanity in this world ?
Are we living with no human emotions ?
Evolution of Humanity over the years ?
All religions give the teaching of love, peace and unity. It is something to
believe in and not just something to define our very actions and thoughts.
Humanity is most important religion.
Various saints have taught, practiced and preached the path of humanity
they have taught love and only love to the world saints such as Swami
Vivekananda, Moinuddin Chist, Meerabai, saint Tukaram, saint Gyaneshwar
and many more.
Humanity was also recently tried and tested during this pandemic crisis
where people came forward to help the needy. During this pandemic people
kept aside their grudges, malice and came forward to stand as a one big
family where our very own country India followed the saying of 'Vasudhaiva
kutumbakam' which means the world is one big family and by preaching this
our country India became the pharmacy of the world and did massive
4
exports of emergency medicines to various countries such as US, UK Brazil,
South Africa etc. and saved humankind.
Conclusion -
For me ,”just being a good human being defines you everywhere.”
Humanity is an important part of life which tells that to help others, try to
understand other and realize the people problems with our own eyes and
try to help them. Showing humanity one don't need to be a rich person,
even a poor person can sow humanity by helping someone or sharing his or
her food, etc.
Humanities help you understand your responsibilities towards culture and
society. You get knowledge about different languages, cultures, and
histories of various traditions.
At the end, I would like to conclude that humanity is not lost it is just
sleeping somewhere in the universe you just need to stimulate it with your
acts of kindness, peace and love
Because, At The End What You Serve Is What You Get .
