If You Saw A Flower

By Nikita Kanjani

If you saw a flower,

Would you admire its beautiful,

Colourful petals

Or look at its wilting leaf - so

Black and raven,

Just ready to collapse?

If you saw a flower,

Would you admire how its red

Petals once exuded vibrance and became

The epitome of nature?

Would you touch its leaves

To teach what warmth and love feels;

To let love become a barrier to its pain,

To let peace wash away its terrors?

Or would you let it break and engulf

Into nothing?

If you saw a flower,

Would you close its eyes

Because a damaged flower is undeserving of love?

Or would you let patience and kindness

And empathy blossom its petals

Into something destined

To give meaning to a world so

Full of hate?
