You came to me in dreams last night,
Wearing red, your face alight.
A smile so warm, it called my name,
And asked the door to unbolt the frame.
Spellbound, I stood, my heart did race,
Every inch alive to see your face.
Though the dream whispered, "This isn’t true,"
My soul embraced the sight of you.
I wait each day to share my tale,
Of triumphs big, or where I fail.
But without you, they all seem bare,
A hollow joy, no one to share.
You stepped inside, and on the bed,
You sat, with Mama by your stead.
Together you looked, serene, at peace,
And for a moment, my heart found release.
I watched in silence, too stunned to hear,
The words you spoke, yet crystal clear.
The life in the dream, the breath it gave,
Was more than the waking world could save.
I woke, to find the truth so stark,
The room so quiet, the night so dark.
Yet hope it planted, a seed to grow,
In dreams, to where our hearts will go.
So now I long for sleep’s embrace,
To see your smile, to feel your grace.
If only there, we bridge the divide,
Then let me dream; let the night be my guide.
For in those dreams, you live again,
A fleeting balm for the deepest pain.
And though it’s brief, it feels so near,
To have you back, my Papa dear.
