Stolen glances, muffled whispers
Secret handshakes, subtle touches
You caressed me
And your hands left/ tracks of their own.
Tracks of their own.
I still have those memories
Preserved in the groves
Buried below.
Buried below.
I try to practice, forgive don’t forget
Yet I still remember each tiny detail
The look on your face
Your creased eyebrows
Your button scrunched up nose
Your worn-out look
Your surrendered stare.
I am in despair.
Broken affair.
Rainbows of you
and skies of blue
You painted a picture
Picturesque town
We’d both escape
That’d be our place
Safe from efface
Warm in your embrace
You held me tight
Against the dark night
As the demons rose
You pulled me close
Kept those fears at bay
You were my sunshine ray
I’d never let you go away
Who knew you’d turn astray
Leaving me grey
Now I see rainbows of black
And skies with cracks
Lost in the illusion
Hallucination
Now this is my place
Where I retrace
What went wrong
Was I that strong
Did you string me along
I have painted my kingdom
No, no fairies or angels
A palace of doubt
Self- questioning throughout
I have loved and lost
But lost more than loved
I have come undone
Can we have a rerun?
