When I look around, I see
People shying away
From the words—
Sexual assault, rape.
Why is this? I wonder.
Isn’t it alarming? I ponder.
If no one speaks,
How will the victims know
That the fault lies not with them,
Though the crowd pretends to care?
In hushed tones, they whisper,
But the truth remains unspoken,
Leaving them feeling uncomfortable
In their own skin,
Burdened by wounds far deeper.
Real eyes realize,
This silence is a grave injustice,
And the only species to blame is—
Man.
Real eyes realize.
In a world that should protect,
Let us confront and break chains,,
To ensure that every voice is heard,
And every heart is healed.
