When the world is asleep, she’s up instead.
They think she’s ill, but they don’t understand.
It’s been so long.
I heard her singing my song.
And she’s breathing my air, living my dream.
Look she’s riding my boat right down the stream.
She’s been bitten by men.
Of all the cuts and bruises, I can think of none she uses.
Of all the scars she sides, no one see the pain that resides.
But she’s still going on strong.
I heard her singing my song.
She’s been hit by a curse, for better or worse.
Now she’s hard to reach, hard to teach
When she wants to speak,
She’s tired, she collapses for she is too weak.
She’s breathing my air, living my dream.
Look she’s riding my boat, down the stream.
She’s living on and still going on strong.
I still hear her singing my song.
