The days were better,
When Mom used to comb my hair,
And the scent of coconut oil was my only perfume
When Lifeboy was in the soap dish,
As my soap, scrubber, shower gel, and body wash
When mom used to cook me curd rice,
By whispering no fine dining can beat this taste
When exams were my biggest fear,
Passing them was my greatest achievement
But
I was too young for that better life
Instead
When the days were better,
I wanted the hair of that model in the advertisement
I wanted the soap that made actresses glow up
I wanted to get that job in the A/C glass building
Now I am twenty-five
Gliding through a life in style
Living it up in fancy cars
Until an Instagram post caught my eyes
Amma’s special ‘Lunchbox’ at just Rs. 1500
Order closing in five minutes
My trembling fingers rush to click buy
While tensed mind doubting whether I would make it
Was the price a bit high? But it’s healthy home-made
I felt like after securing a great business offer.
I scrolled on to the next post
Organic coconut oil for hair at just Rs. 9999

Was reading this while my mom was massaging my scalp with coconut oil. I'm 14 so now I know that I should cherish this. Great poem 💗
