Push, push,
the door’s been shut.
Rattle, rattle,
the door’s handle,
But locked in
are you, and the door has become a wall.
Scratch, scratch,
on the door’s panel.
Fish, fish,
for the hinges,
But jammed
is the door for years and has locked you in.
Tug, tug,
on the doorknob.
Shoulder, shoulder,
it like a boulder,
But budges it not,
as the door stubbornly stands in your way.
And after a thousand tries
and helpless sighs,
Exhausted, you lie,
you give it a last try.
Knock, knock,
you hear footsteps and a creak as the door unlocks.
