The Island of Peace
A sea of smiles here and there,
A stream of work, no chains and no rope
Sparrows, crows and lambs sans despair,
Children are playing, smiling with hope.
Now the pain is there no more,
Sobs and screams sink in the deep sea-
The sea of warmth beyond shore;
Sheep and wolves bathe in glee.
The storm lays his icy hands,
The bulbul cries: O, for that blissful moment!
Bombs and blood embrace the sands:
Bees and butterflies long for the bliss.
Tigers and foxes crowd for the dance,
Here and there they do chant:
Gold … gold… gold and gold rain in chance!
Sparrows, crows cry for a magic wand.
Today or morrow theirs will be an abode of peace,
Chains will melt, cages will go
Never that sun rises there; never have they slept sans fleece,
Tears in torrents defy their haven
Millions of pains, millions of sobs reign over there,
The island of peace withers for them
Wolves play, sparrows are nowhere near,
Indeed, life is a rare piece of gem.
