The darkness gathers, thick and cold, filling the heart with dread untold;
What unseen horrors lie in wait? The mind reels consumed by fate.
The body tenses, senses keen, as terrors lurk, unseen, unseen;
The pulse pounds out a frantic beat – fight or flight, which shall I meet?
The unknown looms, a yawning maw, threatening to crush me, fill with awe;
Reason flees, replaced by fright, as the spirit cowers from the night.
Yet buried deep, a spark yet glows, the will to face the nameless woes;
With hating steps and bated breath, I dare to challenge the fear of death.
For only by walking through the dark, can I ignite my own spark;
The courage to greet each new dawn and watch the veil of night be drawn.
