Unrequited Amour

By Rachana Murthy

I love you

Though I have no right to

I don’t want to share you, but you’re not

even mine

I see you holding her hand and I pretend I'm fine

Does she have a prettier smile and prettier eyes?

Does being around her give you butterflies ?

Do you tell her all of your dreams and that she was one that came true ?

And does she reply with things that I wanted to tell you?

Such is the fate of the second heroine,

Bet on your heart and you’ll never win

My heart is heavy with love that I don’t know

where to pour

I'm tired of carrying it and I don’t want to want

you anymore

I don’t blame you, , for who can control the heart?

But if I knew that this would happen I would have stayed away from the start

Maybe it’s bad timing and fate just wasn’t on my side

Its too late now , I’ll keep my feelings safely tucked away inside

Maybe that’s when you know your love is true

when you want than to be happy even if it’s not with you
