When Hope Chooses You

By Yuvan Deb

Today was a strange day,

The sun seemed weary,

The sky so dark,

The wind far from abiding,

And an unsettled feeling in the heart.

The clouds seemed heavy,

The wine so bitter,

Misty dust was all over,

And trees exchanged a titter.

It seemed as though this was the day

When all was to end.

As I turned towards the edge,

I took a second.

Then the wind grew still,

The thunder sounded a bit softer,

The air embraced with its warmth,

And the trees ceased their chatter.

I don’t know whether I found it or it found me,

But in the midst of the gloom,

Somehow, hope lit free.
