Excitement rushing through formalin
Curious eyes and flashing lights on me
I lay lifeless on the chill metal table
Listening to your oath to me
That I am your unspoken nameless teacher
Because dear I, a cadaver, exist after death
Unsaid words, I wish it ringed in your ears
“I was once full of life and disease
Waiting to be airless but afloat, eternal peace
But I sacrificed my stillness of death and decay
For you to know your breed through me”
Because dear I, a cadaver, exist after death
Clothes and cuts don’t mean a thing
Scalpels and saws severe through everything
Arms amputated, chest cut, skull split open
I am crucified
Am I honoured for this slaughter? I wonder,
Because dear I, a cadaver, exist after death
Honour has an altered meaning now
It's neither gold nor silk nor flowers
But your compassion for my still state
Oh my unsaid words, I wish they rang in your ears
Because dear I, am not just bone and meat
Because dear I, a cadaver, exist after death
Soft hands explore and educate skillfully
Soft eyes have heard my unsaid pleas
Cruel minds err and err mindlessly
Cruel hearts laugh heartlessly
I feel pride and prejudice
Because dear I, a cadaver, exist after death
Have you kept your promise to me?
I know you did, you fulfilled my purpose
And a fair few didn’t, at the cost of my sacrifice
If you are not worthy of promise to the unalive
I wonder if you are worthy of a promise to the alive
Because dear I, a testimony, will exist forever
