By Aanvi Bagaria
When dismal shadows of the wealthy rest upon the pavement
And contended leers of the needful shine through windows of past enslavement,
When smiles conquer the predictable frown
Then the world would have turned upside down,
When we can appreciate the darkness and turn off the light
And be ignorant to day and live in the night,
When we can see no distinction between black, white and brown
Then the world would have turned upside down,
When vengeful envy bleeds into uncontained pride
And ugly hatred is where infinite affection hides,
When we can hear the screams from beneath the crown
Then the world would have turned upside down
When we no longer seek class but disposition
And eventually terminate eternal submission,
When we can exhibit peculiarity like a corpse in a gown
Then the world would have turned upside down
When we can see the narrow void that separates heaven from hell
And bid our euphemized beliefs farewell,
When the anguish floats to the surface and we may swim not drown
Then the world would have turned upside down
