Worthless Regrets

By Saanvi Shukla

Since it was only a woman who bled to death, no one cared to investigate who was my mom's murderer. She bled, but I didn't cry, now I bleed and she isn't even here. If she had never died, I would be in less pain.

I don't know if I would treat her with the respect and love she deserves, but I wouldn't be in pain. I only wish to get her back, not for any selfish desires, but just because she deserves to be here.

She stopped her dream job for me. She put her life on a hold so that I could get a good future. Mother, I wish that the god you spoke of so fondly, is giving you the love I never did.

For every day took away from you, is every day I failed to save you. In the past, in the future, I will love you beyond the universe's hold.

For ever, I'll live the days you couldn't, wish the starts and beyond to bring you back to me, I search for hope in only your name.

The universe snatched you from me, but the lessons you taught move forward with me.

I hope your forgiveness bless me with fortune, so I can give fulfil your dreams.

Mother, I will never once stop apologising for the life I took from you.
