Zealandia

By Bhavana Sivakumar

There are a total of seven continents in the world we live in. We know that they are North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Antarctica and Australia.

But can you believe that another new continent has joined it? It's true even if you don't believe it. Researchers say it is a new continent.

The continent is named Zealandia. Because it is near New Zealand. It has come up from under the sea.

Researchers say Zealandia is half the size of Australia. But only a small part of it has come above the sea and the rest is under the sea.

Zealandia separated from Antarctica 100 million years ago. It is also said to have separated from Australia 80 million years ago. They say that nobody found it because it went under the sea.

Zealandia is said to be like an ordinary land and it also has mountain ranges.

Elsewhere, North Zealand is said to be volcanic, with normal temperatures.

They also included the islands there in Zealandia. That is, they have connected the islands of New Zealand, New Caledonia, Norfolk and Lord Hoe. It is noteworthy that people live on those islands.

The government there has allowed Zealandia to become a tourist destination. People are also going there to see what the new continent is like.

Like this, it is expected that our Kumarikandam, which was submerged in the sea several thousand years ago, will come out again.

It may take hundreds of years for that to happen.
