WHAT I WANT

What am I waiting for?
Something new to begin?

Well, that can’t be true
Since every sunrise is new
We get ready for work
And read entirely different news

Same classroom same teachers
We’ve heard a million times what they preach us
Yet, how I long to have those days back
To get my books together, find a bag and pack

What have I lost this past year?
Those who were unknown and those who were dear
But death is inevitable, that’s what we’re taught
Irrespective of whether you want to live or not.

Will we ever get back what we once had?
A life without such fear, without a face mask – clad?

So, now I think about what I really want
A new start, a beginning, a life with lesser daunt?
A bigger house, better friends, more money to flaunt?

No. I don’t think so.
I think what I want is……….

A world where I no longer have to pretend
And a miracle to happen, for this nightmare to end.
