What If….If

If I told you I loved you,
How would you take it
The wrong way, the right way
What even is that anyway
The subject before us
Is your recalcitrant ways
If I say that I loved them
You’d want to replace them
You’re predictable, to a fault
Manic and overwrought
Emotions we weaponize
A nuclear arsenal.
You remind me of the things I did
I remind you of the people you did
Of how you could never care
To show up and make amends
And yet, I told you I loved you
After a single taste
The aftermath of it
I’m dealing with til today.
